Özlem İRİTAŞ- Akdeniz Ormanlarının Durumu, 2018 Raporu iklim değişikliği ve su kaynaklarının etkisi konusunda Türkiye bölümüne katkı

Birleşmiş Milletler adına FAO ve Plan Bleu tarafından hazırlanan “Akdeniz Ormanlarının Durumu, 2018” isimli rapora katkı vermek üzere davet edilmem benim için bu kategoride bir ilk oldu. Tüm Akdeniz ülkelerinden, bilim adamlarından yöneticilere, bürokratlardan STK lara kadar geniş bir kitlenin ortak katkısı ile hazırlanan raporda  yer almak, çok keyif aldığım bir süreç yaşattı.

Bu raporda “The Mediterranean landscape: importance and threats” başlığı altında yer alan

“5. Bölüm:  Drivers of degradation and other threats” kısmında iklim değişikliği ve su kaynaklarındaki azalmanın ormanlar üzerine olan etkileri ve Türkiye’deki durum konusunda katkı verdim.

2013 yılında FAO ve Plan Blue ortaklığı ile “Akdeniz Ormanlarının Durumu-2013” isimli rapor yayınlanmıştı. http://www.fao.org/forestry/silva-mediterranea/89603/en/

2016 yılında bu raporun 2018 versiyonunun hazırlıklarına başlandı. Rapor hazırlıklarından Sn. İsmail Belen sayesinde haberim oldu, teşekkür ediyorum. Bunun akabinde 31 Mart 2017 tarihinde, raporun 4. Bölümünün (Drivers of degradation and threats) koordinatörü olan Enrique Doblas Miranda’dan (İtalya) aldığım aşağıdaki mail ile  ilgili kısma katkıda bulunmak üzere davet edildim. Süreci hatırımda tutabilmek için yazışmaları buraya da yazmak istedim.

“Dear Özlem İritaş,

I’m contacting you regarding the State of Mediterranean Forests (SoMF), which you probably know better than me.

I’m in charge of coordinating the chapter 4, which deals with drivers of degradation and threats, and I’ve been informed that you may be interested in contribute as co-author.

I think that your background and your expertise would be and added value for the publication, especially in the field of alteration and pollution of water resources as consequence of land use and climate change (please find attached the chapter outline with your potential contribution).

Please also note that each chapter should not exceed 15 pages (figures included) and therefore we are asking for nothing longer than half to one page long. The text should be a picture of the state of the art in reference to the proposed subject at the Mediterranean Region, with potential additions in the form of case studies’ short descriptions as examples (you are free to suggest cases and contributions related to them).

29 Kasım 2018’de FAO’dan Nicolas Picard’dan gelen aşağıdaki mail ile raporun birleştirilmiş halini görmüş olduk. Uluslararası bir raporda yer almak oldukça heyecan vericiydi. Büyük keyif aldım.

A twelve-page Executive Summary of the State of Mediterranean Forests will be published by the end of the year. The French translation of the State of Mediterranean Forests 2018 will be published next year.
