Distinguished High-Level Representatives,

Dear Experts and Colleagues,

The European Wood Policy Platform (WoodPoP) is reaching an important stage. Following another year of successful meetings and intensive discussions, we are pleased to invite you to the Third High Level Meeting (HLM) in Brussels, Belgium on 6 November 2024. 

As the main decision-making body of WoodPoP, the High Level Meeting brings togetherdelegations from Pan-European ministries led by high-level government officials (Ministers, Secretaries of State, Director Generals, and Directors), as well as regional and stakeholder organisations and observers.

The Exchange of views on and the Endorsement of the Policy Paper ‘Policy Paper of the European Wood Policy Platform: A Wood-Based Circular Bioeconomy for a Sustainable Europe: Green Construction and Innovative Solutions’ will be the main focus of the meeting.

The Policy Paper has been developed under the lead of the Technical Working Group Governance with substantive inputs from the other Technical Working Groups over the past months. An Advanced Draft was discussed during the Wood Policy Lab which took place from 3-5 July 2024 in Traunkirchen, Austria. The final technical discussion took place at the Expert Group Meeting in Norway in September this year.

In this collaborative process, country representatives, as well as stakeholder organisations including industry and research, agreed on the current draft of the Position Paper at a technical level. We will share the final draft of the Policy Paper for endorsement as part of the accompanying meeting documents in mid-October.

We would like to ask for associations to the Policy Paper and will prepare a form to express agreement to be attributed to the paper on behalf of your ministry or organisation.

The attribution to the Wood Policy Paper does not imply financial or legal commitments. It essentially serves as a common ground and joint understanding for our future collaboration in the European Wood Policy Platform. 

High-level representatives of countries and stakeholder organisations are cordially invited to take the floor for an intervention reacting to the Policy Paper, highlighting the topical focus areas within the platform and highlighting their priorities within the WoodPoP initiative for the coming years.

We would also like to draw your attention to the Wood Policy and Innovation Conference, “Europe’s wood sector as a driver for the green and digital transition in the built environment”, which WoodPoP is co-organising with Wood4Bauhaus, BioRegions, and Holzcluster Styria on 7 November 2024 in Brussels.
